You’ve seen the photo- it’s a classic and typically on a list of “must have” photos for brides on their special day: The Wedding Dress.

As a wedding photographer, early on I use to try to recreate the same Pinterest dress photo for every bride, not realizing each venue, location and dress is unique in its own. Not every venue has a perfect curtain rode in front of a clean, large window or tree with the perfect branch … you get the picture.

Because every bride and every wedding is unique, I love being able to find spots that fit the environment and give a clean look at the dress. Below I have provided my top 5 places to hang your wedding dress on your special day.

1. Clean, large bedroom window with an actual curtain rod

2. Tree

3. Picture frame/ Art canvas on the wall

4. Chandelier

5. Any ledge around the venue

Expert tip: make sure to pack either a special hanger (customized, velvet, etc) or a clean wooden one (Hollaaa at Ikea for a pack of 8 for $5!) that your dress will stay on for your photographer to use for your dress shot.
